Fri. May 13: Glenn Weiser. Blues and bluegrass, music from the 40s & 50s by one of our best local musicians. Full Tapas menu, along with wine, beer and the best sangria you’ll ever taste. Open 5-9+. music from 6-9. $5 Cover.
From http://www.celticguitarmusic.com/bio.htm
Onstage with guitar, baritone vocals, rack-mounted harmonica and occasionally banjo, Weiser shamelessly and wonderfully mixes genres and eras – Blues & Celtic tunes, Country Blues of the 20′s and 30′s – then throws in a Scott Joplin rag, Tin Pan Alley show tune, or a blues or folk classic made famous by the Grateful Dead. It’s the lilt of a Celtic air followed by the wail of a blues tune; and woven throughout are bits of not-so-trivia that spice his shows, taking you back to the music of blues legend Blind Lemon Jefferson, further back to Turlough O’Carolan (Ireland’s legendary blind harper of the 18th Century); touching on a little-known story starring none other than Johann Sebastian Bach, then shining a spotlight on the very colorful Lightnin’ Hopkins.
¡¡This Friday, May 6, Sonny & Perley Return!!
Our favorites, Perley for her golden voice and Sonny for his great keyboards
Sonny & Perley. The exciting duo of Sonny Daye and Perley Rousseau achieves a rare musical symbiosis. The husband and wife team have spent the last several years developing and perfecting their unique blend of Jazz, Bossa Nova, American Songbook Standards, and International Cabaret which has become their musical signature. They engagingly perform the timeless standards of the Great American Songbook such as Berlin, Gershwin and Porter as well as the irresistible Bossa Nova melodies of Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Full Tapas menu, along with wine, beer and the best sangria you’ll ever taste. Open 5-9+. music from 6-9. $5 Cover.
