She brought us a Rudolph and had some extras (just in case!) She twisted them into an animal for this little girl.
The good cheer abounds!
And time for my reward- Spanish dark hot chocolate and a steaming plate of Ranch Eggs.
We dug out the entrance at 8, so our earlybirds could come in at 9. Then it was time to get serious.
For this much snow I borrow a Washington Park snowblower. I pay it forward by digging out a fire hydrant and several neighbors and helping around the park. It probably takes me longer than it would just to shovel, but that’s what neighborhoods are all about.
Many thanks as always to our neighbor Warren Abele, who as usual does much, much, much more than his share.
We have come up with so many scrumptious new breakfast ideas that it’s easy to forget what got us here: Simple, nourishing fare that goes down easy and keeps you running all day.
And here it is, the dish that started it all, Cuban Eggs. White Rice, Black Beans, Plantain & Avocado, with two Eggs Any Style (I take mine Poached!)
Simple and hearty, the perfect way to start a day of holiday shopping, household chores, or (my favorite!) to linger over for a leisurely breakfast with friends.
Seriously, when we tried this, we called Paris and told them to stand back, we just redefined French Toast. Leave it to a Cuban-American restaurant to make Frencher-than-French Toast!
It starts as usual, with the extra thick bread, dipped in our own special batter. We crust it with chopped almonds, drizzle it lightly with caramel, then top it with Fresh Ricotta Mousse and Fresh Raspberries. Wowie Zowie, what a winner!
And speaking of winners, we have a special Pollo de Fuego Sandwich….mildly spiced braised chicken thighs with warm chipotle sauce, and topped with a celery-carrot slaw that tickles your taste buds!
